Unsolicitor

Inspiradrome would like to introduce the Unsolicitor – an initiative to change the perception of unsolicited innovative ideas, from threatening and suspicious to legitimate and attractive as sources of Open Innovation.

Researchers at the Multiversal Institute for Applied Curiosity have reported a new and truly perplexing discovery in Universe Q-47 — a world otherwise similar to our own, but with one astonishing cultural quirk. In this universe, innovative ideas submitted by ordinary citizens are not celebrated, funded, or developed. They are… feared. Corporations refer to such ideas as “unsolicited,” a term uttered with the same caution our own civilisation reserves for unstable antimatter.

The phenomenon appears rooted in an elaborate legal superstition: companies worry that if a citizen shares an idea, waits for the company to develop it independently, and then later claims ownership, catastrophic litigation will follow. As a result, entire sectors treat public creativity as a kind of hazardous material — to be avoided, quarantined, or destroyed on arrival.

To Multiversal anthropologists, the behaviour is baffling. A civilisation that has achieved global communications and near-instant knowledge exchange somehow evolved a taboo against receiving ideas. As Lead Researcher H’Lan Vor commented: “The inhabitants seem convinced that ideas are dangerous gifts — safe only when nobody has given them.”

Truly, the Multiverse never ceases to surprise.

Why innovative ideas that come from outside and promise genuine benefit are adamantly rejected by companies (…no, “rejected” is not the right word ignored, as if the message never existed) is hard to comprehend. And once you do, it doesn’t get better. A fear that the person who sent the idea is setting up a legal trap that’s NUTS! It speaks volumes about our society, and not in a good way. Things need to change!

Through the Unsolicitor, Inspiradrome aims to create a trust layer that would be recognised by corporates the world over. If an idea came through the Inspiradrome funnel and was delivered via the Unsolicitor initiative, it is not to be feared.

Idealistic? Yes. Impossible? No.
